Roger D. Gross, 61, of Silvis, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 201 1st St., Colona. Visitation will be an hour prior at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Roger was born July 24, 1950, in Rock Island, the son of Maurice and Mary Solomon Gross.
Roger loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He had a special interest in classic trains and cars. He also enjoyed playing cards and acting as a private Santa around Christmas.
Roger was a member at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona and was a part of the Father Pro Men's Club at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Silvis.
He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Murray, Murray, Ky., Clara (Peter) DeKlein, Murray, and Romona (Roger) Asleson, Princeton, Iowa; brother, John (Rita) Gross, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
