Glynn Johnson

HAMPTON — Funeral services for Glynn P. Johnson, 60, of Hampton, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Johnson died Sunday, December 18, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City. Memorials may be made to the family.
Glynn was born February 6, 1951, in Moline, the son of Arthur and Patricia Versluis Johnson. He was a graduate of United Township High School and Western Illinois University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Terrie Gwinner on July 25, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Moline. He retired from the John Deere Parts Warehouse, Milan, in 2009 after 30 years of service. He had served on the Hampton School Board and Hampton Village Board. He had taught CCD and had been a classroom instructor for Junior Achievement. He had coached soccer and softball. He enjoyed fishing and paranormal research.
Survivors include his wife, Terrie Johnson, Hampton; daughter, Tamara Johnson, Moline; son, Todd (Andie Camden) Johnson, Louisville, Ky.; sister, Melissa Passno, Moline; brothers, Tim (Laurie) Johnson, Moline, Terry (Mary) Johnson, Milan, Tom Johnson, Colona, and Mark (Anne) Reuter, Silvis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
