Paul Garcia

Services for Paul D. Garcia, 49, of Colona, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund has been established to promote conservation.

Mr. Garcia died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000.

Paul was born Aug. 29, 1951, in Moline, the son of James J. and Alice M. (Cline) Garcia Sr.

He was employed at the Case/New Holland plant, East Moline, since 1972. In his earlier years he had worked for George Evans Manufacturing.

Paul had played for the QC Mohawks. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He belonged to United Bowhunters of Illinois, Rock Island Conservation Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Rifle Association, Wild Turkey Federation, Ted Nuggent United Sportsmen of America, Iowa Traditional Bowhunters and Illinois Bowhunters Society. He volunteered at the Quad City Conservation Alliance in Rock Island.

Survivors include his mother, Alice M. Garcia, East Moline; sisters and brother-in-law, Stephany (Perkins) Garcia, East Moline, Mary and Danny Garcia-Staton, East Moline; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Berta Garcia, Rock Island, nieces Christina and Brandi Garcia, Angela Perkins, nephews, Steffan Perkins, James J. Garcia II, Danny Staton II, Francisco and Anthony Staton, great-niece Octavia Perkins, great-nephews, Anthony Flores and La Tez Perkins, a ``son at heart,'' Paul D. Garcia II, and a special friend, Theresa. He was preceded in death by his father James J. Garcia Sr.
